I have been playing violin for almost 2 years now and I was wondering how do you transpose music? For example I come across a lot of cello music that I really like but I cant play it or it would just sound too high. I want to be able to make the music so that I can read it. I figured I could get some answers here since its the composition forum.
Thanks!

Cello is in a bass clef, so take every note two steps up and you should have the right notes. If it's two high, then take the desired phrase one octave down. With transposing music like this you may have to change a few notes to make the phrases fit together because of the difference of range, but you should be ok in the end.
