Hello,
does anyone know where I can buy good hardback study scores, mainly of classic operas by Mozart, Wagner etc.
I've found a nice scores published by Kalmus of New York, full size hardback, in the library, but looking at their website it seems they don't make study scores any more, only conductors scores, which are too expensive.
I've also seen the Eulenberg minature scores- these are nice, but some of them are paperback, which is no good for me as they don't lie open, and I would prefer full size books.
So does anywhere publish such scores.
Thanks,
Tristan.

i would just go and buy the conductors scores if you want a really nice hard cover copy...I can't think of any study scores that would fit your criteria.....and the scores you were talking about being expensive are really nice and i think they are with the investment

<Added>

are **worth** the investment

The best place to purchase full-size scores is Dover. They have a good catalog, and prices are very reasonable. Get on their mailing list for their printed catalogs, or go to their Web site:

If you can be satisfied with .pdf scans of public domain scores, then IMSLP is the place to go:

They just got out of a heavy legal dispute over international copyright laws, but now they are reopened again. An incredibly useful resource.

You'd have to print these out and bind them yourself, wouldn't you? Is it really worth the effort?

Dover is perfectly legal, but ethically suspect in my opinion. It undercuts the publishing business and makes it harder to find non-public domain scores at a reasonable price.

Aren't conductor's scores usually rented?
