Please bear with me as I'm not musical and not musically techy either.
My 11 year old daughter is learning piano (and loves it).
As well as learning she likes making up her own music and I'm keen to encourage her.

What she would like to do is have the music she plays transcribed into sheet music. She has a yamaha keyboard and soon will have a yamaha digital piano.
Can someone explain to a very simple person (ie me) how best she can do this? We can do either mac or windows 8 (although she prefers mac).
Both keyboard and piano have USB ports.
She tried musescore and while this entered the notes, she had to go back in and alter the note lengths afterwards.
Any help gratefully received.

Sure dude umm on the back of the piano there should be some ports. (headphones, power supply) one should be labelled USB. Use a type 2 USB connector. It is typically used for connecting your printer to the computer. Just hook the piano up to the computer and open GarageBand on the Mac. Just record and then I'll give you further details later on. Feel free to e-mail me at: hamono.m@wcc.vic.edu.au and I'll give you a tutorial.

Thanks, we have already managed to record stuff onto GarageBand, so if we can use that to get to sheet music that would be great.

You need to buy a MIDI input device that connects to a USB.
