i play the bari sax so i kinda get the curse of the horn with the constant straight eigth notes or quarters well you know what i mean. my question is do any of you like marches? our horn section hates them. I LOVE them (but i also get to play some fun stuff along with the curse and at least im on the beat)

Horns usually get up beats.... which gets annoying very easily. So generally they're not our favorite pieces to play.

Some marches are scored with interesting parts for horns including "The Great Escape" and some arrangements or medleys of Sousa marches.

True. I wish it happend more often.

Raiders of the lost arc isn't to bad if you get an alright arrangement. So there not all bad but the offbeat thing does get annoying!

I got suckered in to playing with the summer band, and almost all of their songs are marches with the annoying upbeats. Arg, I thought I was gonna go brain dead. No wonder they couldn't get any other horns, lol.
