I need to know for a piece I'm writing, if anyone can help please do:

What octave is the fundamental G(sounding) over which the overtone series (partials) is played? Is the fundamental the one 3 leger lines below the bass clef? or is it the octave below that? Could anyone clarify this for me, the more specific and detailed the better.
