I would like to add some information to my empty 8 notes profile, but can't figure out how. Can any one direct me? I don't see any buttons to push for edit profile.

go to the top right corner of your screen.
YOu should see your username, home, inbox, settings, and logout. open up settings and you should be exeactly where you want to be.
