I am having trouble restringing my change valve. My questions are:
1.What position does the stop arm take so that, unengaged, the horn plays the f side? Does it, at rest, touch the cork bumper that is toward the mouthpiece or the bell?

2. What direction, clockwise or counterclockwise does the string initially take around the center?

It's not all that obvious trying to follow videos and pictures when none of them involve the change valve.

I'm sure it will seem easy at some point, but I'm at a standstill and could use some very detailed instructions for this particular valve.

Thank you.

This morning I found a site that had additional information that took care of the problems I was having, except for the first one.

As it stands now, the stop arm rests on the bumper nearer the mouthpiece. When I play the horn with the slide that points toward me, the one on top, with the change key engaged, the note comes out the bell. When I play a note with the key engaged w/o the same slide, the sound comes out the bell.

I believe I have the horn set up correctly now, but would appreciate confirmation, or info on how to get it right.

Thank you

The slide I am referring to is the B tuning slide.

Okay, I will slow down and be careful of what I write. The slide I'm referring to isn't the Bb tuning slide, it's the F side tuning slide. When that slide is out and the key UNengaged, the sound doesn't go out the bell. When engaged, the sound does go out the bell.
