Just came into a model 6d conn french horn, looks to be in very good shape with a few minor dings.
Can anyone help date, serial is 256970, from a quick search It appeared the newer ones have a letter before the serial?
There does look to be some age in the bell and when pulling out the tubing.

The case looks pretty new, could this be an older restored horn? Approx. value?
thanks for any info.....

It depends what you call 'newer' based on the bell decoration and location of the serial number this is made after the year 2002.

Conn used letters many years ago, switched to only numbers, started using numbers again in the early 60's, two letters in the early 70's, and back to numbers (reusing previously used numbers) in the 2000's years. Conn-Selmer is keeping their serial number series proprietary. So we can't be exact, but by looking at the art work on the bell, the valve rotor cap style, the location of the serial number I'd shoot an idea of 2007-2008.

Value?
It is difficult to assign a value merely on age and visual inspection of an instrument. I have seen horns that looked nice and played like crap. And then seen that same instrument taken apart and put back together with the same parts and play wonderfully. So value is based on how well it is put together and how well it plays.
