I don't play the French Horn, but I find it to be the most beautiful and interesting instrument. I don't often listen to classical music because soundtracks i tend to find more appealing. My favorite composers are Martin Fowler (Two Steps From Hell), Hans Zimmer, and Martin Fowler (Halo series and Destiny). I am in love with French horn notes of every kind, but the ones that give me the chills the most are the high notes. Here are a few I notably remember for their High French horn notes

Immortal Avenger - Two Steps From Hell (D5 I but I'm not and expert at naming notes by ear)
A Call to Arms - Tracy Bush (hit an E5 I believe)
My favorite= Shaping of the World - Tracy Bush (hits an F5 i'm pretty sure but I'm unfamiliar with french horn ranges but I believe it is the F above the Treble Cleff)
Also favorite= Untold Legends - Martin Fowler (Destiny Soundtrack) (I am unable to pinpoint the exact highest note they reach due to the trumpets at the end but my brother, an avid and talented french horn player, said "Those French Horns tho!")

I want to know who else knows of some songs that have very high notes for the horn and just sound amazing? Check these songs out too because they are phenomenal.

I haven't noticed it much myself, but apparently the score of "Wicked" has some high notes for horn. For that matter, a lot of scores for popular musicals have high notes for horn. I think they're able to do that since the player is just sitting around through all the dialogue, which gives ample rest time.

Original thread from which I heard that "Wicked" has wicked high notes: http://8notes.com/f/51_238133.asp

For high notes of the beautiful kind have a listen to Schumann's brilliant 'Konzertstuck for 4 horns and orchestra' - plenty of examples of this can be heard on YouTube.

Baroque Horn Concertos, Barry Tuckwell contains stratospheric high notes beautifully performed by one of the finest horn players in the universe...available on youtube or any good music retailer (and no, I'm not on commission!).

Try the end of the Titanic arrangement on The London Horn sound (a long held high concert G).

That depends on who is playing those high notes. LOL! I think Steve Park has about the most beautiful high range of any player I regularly listen to.
