WHY AREN'T THERE MORE WOMEN IN JAZZ?

While other fields such as classical music are now wide open to women, the jazz field remains male-dominated. Why is this? We'll talk with saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom, cellist Akua Dixon and journalist Lara Pellegrinelli about where things stand and if the situation is changing.

A really interesting question. I was under the impression that this genre was increasing. Just take a look at The X Factor in the UK. I know the girls are not actually singing Jazz, but, wow, they could. This time around their voices are truly amazing. Surely though, isn't jazz of a more mature nature. Perhaps we will just have to wait for them
