I think bands like Led Zeppelin, Queen etc. Ment a lot. But of course Bob Dylan, Beatles, Ramones and other bands. Personaly I am a huge fan of metallica and I think they`ve ment a lot for todays rock music and metal (even though St.Anger wasn`t very good). What do you think?

Iron Maiden is one of the most influencial heavy metal bands, that is still going, almost every new band is influenced by them.

The Irons are the Kings of Metal

dude the only reason rap is being heard is because there is no more good rock bands because all the legends that made rock shine in the past years are now old or just stopped making records.

to have "good" rappers you only need a freakin fruitloops track and start saying stupid bull !***! about sex and women and there you have it, a Rap song. its talent less music, classic rock and metal will last forever but rap is just passing by.

Look most bands in the 60s 70s and 80s meant a whole lot. The reason that everone listens to Hip Hop today is because that it is way too commercialised. As long as the classic bands get listened to they won`t die.

todays rock is in a pretty sad state. i mean, sure there are a few decent bands, but i can`t really see any of them being considered legends by future generations. but back on topic.

who the most important was depends on who the most important is now. which its very hard to tell who is relevant and who is not.

for an example, i think i`ll go with the white stripes still being relevant in a few years. jack white`s no page or clapton, but he`s a damn good songwriter. so essentially that would make blues rock groups important contributors, like cream.

if you just want a list of what artists mean the most, from my point of view, its the who, zeppelin, dylan, hendrix, the sex pistols, the clash, the beatles and the stones. you can see the influence of these people just about everywhere.

but if there`s just one person that needs the credt, without whom none of there groups exist, its les paul. without the electric guitar, there is no rock music.
