when i indulge in such a magnificent site such as this one i cannot escape the disappointments of most members.
he does not like this, she loves them, he shoots back at the last reply for not lusting for the same band he/she lusts over.
well answer for me this ladies and gentlebeasts : is the bar set too high?
have the musicians of the past destroyed any hope of a cult band ever being born because they were simply too brilliant?

probably. I always ask myself; will a band from the last couple of years be remembered in 40 years time? Will MCR, for example, be remembered the same way as Led Zeppelin has been. I doubt there even exists a band that will stand the test of time like the classics of the 60's and 70's did. Perhaps it's all down to todays disposable, fast- paced society where everything becomes out of fashion after just a week or two. Every issue of Kerrang or NME idolises a different up-and-comming artist and the media has such a short attention span that once a band doesn't appear on TV or radio for a while they are forgotten.

well put, you see my question comes from what i have read throughout a lot of these posts.
i'm burdened with the way youngsters have opted for greener pastures following a band that is 50 years older than they are, and indeed unknowingly destroying the dream of a younger, tighter band.
my wish is that we all embrace the epitome of all types of music using a beatiful, sexy and somewhat violent instrument called the GUITAR.
i used capital letters for that word as i believe on a personal computer that is the highest form of acknowledgement.
your opinions are greatly applauded.

"Perhaps it's all down to todays disposable, fast- paced society where everything becomes out of fashion after just a week or two."

how perfectly put.
it is refreshing to have such a mature reply without a spit or snot thrown about for good measure.

Well I do try to avoid resorting to insults and swearing where possible lol. In my oppinion the greatest new bands are the truely under - appreciated ones. I don't mind the music that you find on the radio or on television. But the unknown bands who have released half a dozen EPs and have a large underground following appeal to me more. however, I understand that if those band were to become more popular they would lose their alternative quality. I surpose it is because I tend not listen to mainstream modern music, but I still find good bands to listen to.

those bands that remain underground gaining 'cult' following are the true diamonds within the dust...well sort of.often word of mouth spreads like a flame erupted by gasoline, and eventually they can quite easily gain legend status without a single note on the radio.
these are the creators that dare to engage in a sort of mangled saga, an untidy, all over the show vision of bagnio.
the "under appreciated ones", as you brilliantly pointed out, are the one's that are the cause of my musical heartache.
another heartache of mine is the lack of a unifier within an industry/society that would love to disembowel the talents that they do not appreciate.
mainstream music tends to be more of a statement to the world, whereas on the other side we have underground music, which is the raw, naked and 'open wide' gesture of creativity, that 'i don't care if you don't like my creations or my visions',type of attitude.
i truly believe that the bright lights and pop feel of a band that makes them appealing for a year, rather than decades.the sound should also appeal to a vast array of fan base, and the sound should be completely 'fresh', but have all the sounds been taken already? hmmmm
