New to Classical Music

Hello there.

First off I'd like to apologise for my appaling lack of knowledge about anything concerning classical music. I'm 15 and before this my music tastes have been in the region of Punk, Metal etc..
I recently purchased the Lord of the Rings soundtrack and found myself particularly entranced by one track on it, and I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the direction of any legitimate Classical musicians of the like. Or indeed single pieces.

Hi Steevee and to everyone! I am new to this forum, however not new to classical music (although I am not a pro, I don’t even play an instrument, it's embarrassing). I love classical music, and I always found it a pity that only few people have found access to classical music and the great joy it can bring to our lives. That's why I have recently written an article on how to enable "newbies" an easy access to it. I posted it on my blog and would very much appreciate your comments and ideas on how to make it even easier for beginners to get to know classical music.

Classical music is often distinguished by its wide use of instruments of varying tones and pitches to create a deep, rich sound. The different movements of classical music were affected largely by the invention and modification of instruments throughout time.

Nice to read this, cuz' it's the same with me! :D (I've also listened to rock, even if I was a fussy listener) So I'm also pretty new in this kind of music, but I do like this; I search around after the 'big' classics and read about it, I listen to the radio channel where I can hear lots of more 'unknown' music. In other words: Eat all information you can get, and do it becuase it's fun.

I love classical music when played by a band or orchestra. I love the big full sound. I sometimes love some classical played on the piano, but I mainly like playing jazz on piano.

I like almost every genre of music except screamo, country or classical. I pretty much memorized every song in my iPod, so it's time for some new songs. Thanks (:
