I do not know what this tune is, but I was listening to NPR and this Mozart-like piece came on which would pause, repeat the last three notes, repeat a little differently a couple more times, then a bell would ring and the piece would go on. Someone help me name it, it is driving me bananas!

Okay, Let me provide a little more info.

This was a psychotic little piece. Hyperactive, and it sounded a lot like Chopin`s Butterfly Etude. However, it would become uncertain, pause, repeat the last three notes as I said before, then change them slightly, repeating them a little differently about three times, then a light little bell would be rung, as if a correct answer had been made in a game show, and it would return to its psychotic state.

I personally don`t listen to NPR, but it`s hard not for me to since my dad blairs it on his radio. But I mentioned your problem to my brother and he suggested to check the NPR website, www.NPR.org and search for that "music buffer" as you might call them. You can search in accordance to what story you were listening to and how long ago it was. Hope that helps!
