About 'Theme from A Musical Joke K.522'

Born:
January 27, 1756 , December 5, 1791
Died:
Salzburg , Vienna
The Artist:
A child prodigy, Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was eight years old and his first opera at 12. He went on to write some of the most important masterpieces of the Classical era, including symphonies, operas, string quartets and piano music.
Composed:
1787
Info:
A Musical Joke K. 522, (Divertimento for two horns and string quartet) is a composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; the composer entered it in his Verzeichnis aller meiner Werke ('Catalogue of all my Works') on June 14, 1787. The music is intentionally written to be funny, being liberally sprinkled with obtrusively clumsy, mechanical and over-repetitive composition, together with passages evidently designed to mimic the effects of inaccurate notation and inept performance. The piece is famous in the UK as the theme for the Horse of the Year show.
